Survival is our struggle, and thriving our inheritance.

Lamia's email- The PORTAL

Hi Reader,

I’m almost back in the clinic, and it feels like a birthday party is happening next week, with my excitement to come back. Sending you some care and Qi flow as the ruling few ruin lives, the snow melts and days get longer. Hope remains potent.

During recovery, my commitment to whole health has extended to fully include me. Rest is woven (imperfectly) into my routine, supporting my needs, desires, and possibilities—dynamic and resourced.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve come to deeply love practicing community medicine. I always liked it, but with conditions to thrive, love has blossomed beyond what I could have predicted.

What we’ve achieved together—clients, colleagues, and community—is a testament to our collective effort.

Humanity’s true work goes beyond survival; we’re meant to flourish. Thriving is our purpose—not just surviving, but evolving, expanding, and fully experiencing life. Survival is necessary, but it’s not the point. Sticking to survival limits us. An uncomfortable reality indeed.

We have the capacity for aesthetic and ethical living. Focusing only on survival or constant pleasure misses the essence of being human. We’re here to thrive, embracing differences and expanding into the unknown.

I don’t want people to suffer unnecessarily, but I know without struggle, we are sure to wither. Let’s push back against horrific bullies, inside and out, and fight to thrive. As Thich Nhat Hanh said: "It’s not enough to suffer, we must touch peace too."

Thank you for your support, care, kindness, messages of well wishes, gifts and ongoing collaboration.

I am back on Monday and will see you when you're next in.

with care and regard,

Lamia
