Staying warm in winter with foods, slow moves and belly warmers


Hi Reader,

How's the December zone treating you?
I have been super busy the past few weeks, with clients (hi all!), kids being sick and all the astrological goings on that Shadi and Chani gave a heads up about. I am so glad I tuned in and knew it was gonna be a BUSY December!

I have some fun news coming soon (mega tease), but until then wanted to get some soon-to-be-winter season TCM health tips out to you all.

Village models support us to thrive

I LOVE treating the people in my neighbourhood, be that my queer/trans neighbours, my artist neighbours, my literal Bloor St or Dufferin Grove neighbours, or parent neighbours I am in community with via my sweet kiddos.
I spent my early years in a wee village in England and as I develop awareness of my purpose it is so clear to me now that village is at my core, developmentally and inherently.

Village is how we are organized

And (for us nerds) a village is essentially how animal and plant cells operate!

Winter is a time of storing, and resting. Connected to the Spirit of Zhi and the emotions of fear, fright, determination and will power, the flavour of salt and the colours black, purple and dark blue.

As I expand the village model, Winter is a whole year's night time, shorter days, longer nights, colder weather making us slow down, store and preserve energy. We do this mostly amidst a system going haywire with not much time for slow, rest, preserve.

With today's message I offer reminders to rest anyway, and tips for how to preserve amidst the busy, non stop goings on of village life in 2025.

Life is so far from easy, yet still has these moments of exquisite joy, for most, if not all of us. Be it during the hardest, most joyous, or the daily mundane I wish for you to try, to love, and to develop connection and aligned responsibility. Ask for help, offer care where you can, rest and restore.
